Acceptable Discourse

For most topics in politics, there are four main groups of people.

  • The far right
  • The far left
  • The people who don’t want to talk about the topic
  • The people who don’t know about the topic
When you make acceptable discourse for people only fit into a small sphere and reject the rest as unacceptable, you risk forcing someone who wants to discuss or think about something into the other camp if you disagree with them.
I don't really fit into any of the four groups on some topics, and that means I am rejected by all the groups. If I were interested in fitting in or needed approval, I would feel a ton of pressure to join one of the groups and conform.
When you concede nothing, you risk losing everything.
